TheThePaul has worked with most of the major theatre companies in the UK. Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, York Theatre Royal, Nottingham Playhouse, Leicester Haymarket, Birmingham Rep, Exeter Northcott, Greenwich Theatre and national tours.
He was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in the 1980s for four years and London appearances include Capulet in "Romeo and Juliet" at the Shaw. He created the role of Tony Whitcomb in the improvised whodunnit "Scissor Happy" at the Duchess Theatre. Hewas Offie nominated for his performance as "Tom Bates" in "Brimstone and Treacle" at the Hope Theatre in London
Numerous television appearances include One Foot in the Grave, Drop the Dead Donkey, Doctor Who, Wire in the Blood, Coronation Street, Doctors, My Family and Hollyoaks , as well as four series of the BAFTA-winning sit com "Peep Show" for Channel Four and the award-winning sit com "Him and Her" for BBC 3.
Recent appearances include The Full Monty (Disney UK), Miss Scarlett and the DukeDanny Boy, Breeders, Holby City, Shakespeare and Hathaway, Delicious, Drifters, Wolf Hall, The Frankenstein Chronicles, and Mr Selfridge. Black Earth Rising and The Split, The Crown Season 2.
